John Deere Z425 Spindle and Idler Pulley Paths
Select Z425 48-inch and 54-inch deck configurations use the AM144377 spindle assembly. Earlier references associated with this spindle family may include AM135349 and AM124498.
The deck can also use several different idler positions:
- AM135526: mower deck drive sheave or idler assembly
- AM128118: mower deck drive idler
- AM143737: mower deck drive idler pulley; replaces earlier AM136693 references
Do not treat these idler numbers as interchangeable. They can occupy different positions in the same deck-drive system. Match the number on the removed pulley or confirm its callout in the exact deck diagram.
Important Fitment Check
Use the mower serial number to identify the PTO clutch. The John Deere Z425 used separate AM141536, AM136787, and AM138730 clutch paths during production.
For deck parts, confirm both the deck size and mower serial number. The 48-inch deck changes from M158130 to M158131 at serial number 100001, while the 54-inch deck uses the M158131 belt path.
