An early clutch failure can result from an installation problem, so the timing of a failure alone does not establish a manufacturing defect. For a warranty review, document what happened with clear photos before and after removal, whenever safely possible. Before loosening anything, photograph the complete installed clutch, anti-rotation system, and bolt, washer or visible bushing arrangement. After removal, photograph both sides of the clutch, the bore, shaft, mounting hardware and any damage; keep the hardware in its removal order. These images help us assess whether the installation was correct and whether the evidence supports a defect in the clutch itself. Contact us before removal if you need help deciding what to photograph. If the clutch has already come off or photos are unavailable, send what you have so we can discuss testing or inspection.

Early Failure? Check the Installation

Failure during the first few mowing sessions warrants a close inspection of the installation. Loose retaining hardware, an incorrectly seated anti-rotation bracket, or abnormal pressure against the clutch housing can cause premature damage. Mounting contact marks, housing distortion and abnormal rubbing help identify what happened.

Stop using the mower and contact us before removing the clutch whenever safely possible. Photograph the full installed assembly, anti-rotation engagement, and bolt, washer and bushing area. After removal, photograph both sides of the clutch, mounting hardware and any damage.

Early failure alone does not determine warranty eligibility. We review the evidence to distinguish installation damage from a manufacturing defect. Already removed it? Send the photos and information you have.

We can often help even when damage appears installation-related. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer a replacement at our cost to help you get back to mowing. We will confirm availability, the total charge and estimated shipping time before you decide.

This optional goodwill offer may provide a quicker route to a replacement while the cause of failure is still being reviewed. You are welcome to continue the warranty review process, and declining a discounted replacement does not affect your claim.

One-Year Limited Warranty

PTO Direct USA warrants covered new electric PTO clutches against defects in materials and workmanship for 365 days from delivery to the original retail buyer. This limited warranty applies to new electric PTO clutches bought directly from PTO Direct USA, whether or not the individual product listing mentions warranty coverage.

Products sold with separately disclosed warranty terms follow those terms. Purchases completed through an outside seller or affiliate link follow that seller's warranty and return terms.

Deck Kit & Parts Support

Questions or problems with a deck kit, spindle, pulley, belt, blade or other part? Call or text 541-361-8778, or email support@ptodirectusa.com. Send your order number, clear photos and a description of the issue. When a product-quality issue is confirmed, we can often resolve it by shipping the affected replacement part.

We sometimes absorb the replacement cost ourselves to help resolve an issue quickly. Cases requiring a complete kit or assembly replacement involve coordination with the supplier and additional processing time. We will explain any documentation needed and keep you informed of the expected next steps. This coordination does not change the coverage applicable to your order.

What to Expect by Order Age

Delivery Through Day 60 — Early Problem Resolution

For a confirmed manufacturing defect or product-quality issue covered by this warranty, we will provide a full refund of the affected product's price, or a replacement at no charge if you prefer and one is available. Contact us promptly about shipping damage, missing items or an incorrect item; we will also help resolve those delivery issues.

Days 61–180 — Defect Coverage Continues

For a confirmed defect in materials or workmanship, we will provide a replacement clutch at no charge. If a suitable replacement is unavailable, we will refund the affected product's full purchase price. We may request additional photos, troubleshooting results or inspection to establish the cause of failure.

Days 181–365 — Same Defect Coverage

The same replacement-or-refund remedy continues through day 365. There is no automatic reduction in defect coverage at six months. Evidence of use alone does not disqualify a claim; the review considers whether the problem was caused by a covered defect or by an excluded cause.

After One Year — Support Remains Available

The written warranty period ends after day 365, but you are still welcome to contact us for troubleshooting, fitment help and replacement options. Additional goodwill or supplier-assisted help may be available depending on the circumstances.

Photos for a Warranty Review

Contact us before removing the clutch whenever possible. Clear photos of the original installation help distinguish a clutch defect from damage caused by mounting, wiring or another component. Please send:

  1. Full installed clutch: show the complete assembly, its position on the shaft, belt routing and surrounding clearance.
  2. Anti-rotation system: show the bracket, stop, pin or restraint and how it engages the clutch.
  3. Center bolt, washer and bushing area: show the retaining bolt and visible washers, bushings or spacers before loosening or rearranging them.
  4. Wiring and connector: show the connection, wire routing and any damage.
  5. After removal, if needed: photograph both sides of the clutch, the bore, shaft and any damage, plus the bolt, washers, bushings and spacers arranged in removal order. Preserve all parts for review.

Include your order number, installation date, approximate operating time, symptoms and any troubleshooting already completed. If removal is needed, keep the clutch and all mounting hardware available for review.

Photos are the starting point, not a requirement that you personally diagnose an internal defect. Testing or inspection may be needed for an electrical or bearing problem. If installed photos are unavailable, contact us so we can arrange another reasonable way to assess the claim. Do not reinstall a damaged clutch just to take pictures.

Stop using equipment with a loose or damaged clutch. Take photos only with the engine off, key removed, moving parts stopped and hot components cooled. Never work beneath an unsupported mower.

Installation Damage & Loose Mounting Bolts

A bolt backing out and a clutch sliding off the crankshaft during operation does not, by itself, establish a manufacturing defect or workmanship flaw in the clutch. We review the hardware, installation and physical evidence to determine the cause.

This limited warranty excludes damage caused by incorrect installation, loose or unsuitable retaining hardware, an incorrect bushing or washer arrangement, improperly engaged anti-rotation hardware, pulley or belt misalignment, external wiring or power-supply faults, impact, misuse or failure to follow applicable installation instructions. Ordinary wear is also excluded.

An installation-related condition excludes only damage it caused. Self-installation or use of an independent repair shop does not, by itself, void this warranty. An unrelated manufacturing defect remains eligible for review.

Replacement Costs & Claim Handling

Approved warranty replacements include the clutch and standard outbound shipping at no charge. If we require the original part back for review, we provide a prepaid return label and instructions. We do not charge a warranty inspection fee. Please contact us before sending a part back.

This limited warranty covers the part and the shipping described above. It does not reimburse installation or removal labor, diagnostic labor, towing, equipment downtime or expedited shipping unless required by law or separately agreed in writing.

We will explain what information is needed and the reason for our decision. If you disagree with an assessment, contact us with additional photos or findings for reconsideration. Supplier reimbursement arrangements do not change our obligations under this warranty.

Repeat failures require further review. If a replacement clutch fails in the same application, we may request additional installation photos, troubleshooting results or inspection before approving another replacement. Any identified installation or equipment problem must be corrected to prevent further damage. Repeated damage caused by an unresolved mounting, wiring or application issue is not covered as a manufacturing defect.

A warranty replacement continues the remaining coverage period of the original order; it does not restart the one-year term. A manufacturing defect in the replacement remains eligible for review during that period.

Help When the Damage Falls Outside Coverage

Reach out anyway. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer a replacement at our cost, discounted parts or another goodwill solution. Supplier-assisted review may also make a replacement or full or partial refund possible. These additional offers are assessed individually, and we explain any charge before you decide. They are separate from remedies owed for a covered defect.

Unsure about your anti-rotation setup or the bolt, washer and bushing arrangement? Text us photos before running the mower.
