Tuff Torq Transaxle for John Deere AUC15341 / AUC15342 — Left or Right
Find the correct left or right hydrostatic transmission for your John Deere zero-turn mower. These new Tuff Torq transaxles replace the AUC15341 left-side and AUC15342 right-side assemblies used on select ZTrak and EZtrak models, including Z525E, Z535M, Z540M, Z425, Z435, Z445 and Z465.
Choose the required side using the selector above. Left and right are determined while seated on the mower facing forward. Each option is one complete transaxle, sold individually.

The model suffix matters: Z535M and Z540M should not be treated as interchangeable with Z535R and Z540R. Deere lists a separate TZT7M-X left transaxle, AUC15343, for those R models. Likewise, Z515E and Z530M have a separate listed TZT7U-X left transmission, AUC15355. A shared TZT7 family name or shared repair-kit compatibility does not establish complete-transaxle interchangeability.

How to Verify Your Replacement
- Record the full model and PIN from the mower identification plate.
- Photograph the Tuff Torq model, assembly number and serial number on the original transmission label.
- Confirm the required side from the operator’s seated position.
- Match the original number to the corresponding left or right references above.
- Compare the mounting points, axle and wheel-hub connection, control and brake linkage, bypass mechanism, pulley and fan arrangement with the seller’s photographs.
Follow the applicable mower and transmission instructions for installation, oil-level checks and air purging. Prefilled oil does not replace the required installation checks.
Common Questions
Does this include both transmissions?
No. Each selection purchases one complete left or right transaxle. To replace both sides, order one of each.
Can I order by Z540 or Z535 alone?
Use the complete model designation, including the M or R suffix, along with the mower PIN and transmission identification. Similar mower names can use different drive assemblies.
Does weak drive mean the transaxle needs replacing?
Weak drive or loss of power when warm can also involve the drive belt, pulley, linkage, wheel-hub keys or oil level. Check these items before concluding that the transmission has failed.
