PTO Clutch Troubleshooting

Use these PTO clutch troubleshooting guides to diagnose common mower deck problems, including stuck PTO clutches, blades that will not engage, clutch clicking, belt slip, wiring issues, and failed electric clutch symptoms.

Start with the PTO clutch won’t engage troubleshooting hub if your mower runs but the deck will not engage, or if you need to confirm whether the PTO clutch, belt system, or electrical circuit is the likely cause before replacing parts.

If the clutch does not click, the fuse keeps blowing, the PTO switch feels faulty, the connector is melted, or a new clutch will not engage after installation, use the PTO clutch wiring, fuse, and switch testing guide to test voltage, ground, fuse condition, safety interlocks, and clutch coil resistance.

If replacement is needed, review our PTO clutch installation guide before removing or installing a new clutch.
